In Person Worship Update!
We have been planning for the last several weeks to resume in person worship beginning next week on Thursday, July 9 and Sunday, July 12. That decision was made in mid-June and was based on the primary metric that we have been watching since late May – 14 consecutive days of decreasing new positive Covid 19 cases in Polk County.
Beginning on June 18th the positive new case trend began to plateau and as of June 25th began to increase. During the past week cases in Polk and Dallas counties have increased by 20%. Polk County Health Department – Covid-19 Cases On the Rise in Central Iowa.
While we are still very tentatively planning on resuming in person worship next week we will be watching very closely the trend line over the next several days and will make a final decision by Tuesday, July 7th. If you would like to track the State of Iowa or Polk County trend lines you can do that by going to Coronavirus Iowa – Case Counts. The state trend line should be accessible on the page directly below the map. Click on Polk County (or any other county) for the case count in that county.
If you have feedback around this issue that you want to share with me or questions you want to ask, please don’t hesitate to call or email me.
We still anticipate the church office and building reopening on Tuesday, July 7th with Summer Building hours of Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. When the building reopens we will be requesting that anyone coming into the building wear a face covering unless under the age of 3 years old or if you have a medical condition that prevents wearing a face covering.
Thank you for your ongoing patience. Your safety and health are very important to us!
I hope to see you soon,
