In the fall of each year every United Methodist Church participates in a Charge/Church Conference where the ministries of the current year are acknowledged and celebrated and plans for the upcoming year are discussed and approved.  Every member of the church is invited to participate in this process.  Aldersgate’s Charge/Church Conference will be on Sunday, November 1 at 2:00 p.m. and this year Charge/Church Conferences will be held in a ZOOM meeting format.

Our District Superintendent, Heecheon Jeon, has shared these thoughts about Charge/Church Conferences this year “When we gather together as a small cluster, I would like to encourage each of you to build relationship with one another as a connectional body of Christ. Ministry is all about relationship that will transform our lives and others. On the one hand, we will do a normal business agenda to adopt the 2021 ministry plan and reports… But on the other hand, we will be asked to share our ministries and stories that inspire and connect with each other during the charge conference. To that end, I would like to encourage you and your church to think about the following guiding questions. We will share some of them during our time together.

  1. What are the core values of your mission and ministry in the context of the United Methodist Church in Iowa?
  2. How does COVID-19 affect your ministry? What areas of ministry can be created or changed to be more relevant to a new generation (Post-COVID)?
  3. Why do you believe that your church would have a future in next generations to come? Or Why not?”

If you would like to attend Charge/Church Conference, please contact the church office and the Zoom link will be sent to you.

I hope to see you soon,
