We are moving ahead with our plans to resume in-person worship next week on Thursday, April 15 and Sunday, April 18. Both worship services will be at 9:30 a.m. During the Thursday worship service each week we will be recording the service that will continue to be available each week as an online option. Masks and social distancing will be required at both services.
Given that the decrease in Covid-19 positivity rates in Polk County has stagnated over the past several weeks and that there is increasing concerns about Covid-19 variants, I would ask that each of you make your decisions about whether to worship in-person or online after carefully considering your comfort level, safety concerns and vaccine status. Know that there is no pressure, obligation or assumption that you will attend in-person worship! We continue to offer online worship and we hope, expect and anticipate that many people feel safer worshipping in that format and may have found online worship to be convenient and offering flexibility. Whether you worship in-person or online, each of you are a part of the Aldersgate Community!
If you decide to begin worshipping in-person, please read over the information provided elsewhere in the newsletter as to what the worship services will look like and what to anticipate.
Our Sunday morning in-person Sunday school classes will not be meeting when we resume in-person worship. We anticipate in-person Sunday morning educational opportunities to begin again in September. In the meantime, the Zoom Coffee, Conversation and Connection will be available each Sunday morning at 10:45 a.m. with the link provided each week in the newsletter. Additionally, each week a children’s book video is recorded and posted on the website featuring Aldersgate members reading the books. Coffee, Conversation and Connection and Weekly Children’s Book Videos will continue through May 16th.
We are also anticipating monthly all church outdoor gatherings during the summer. If you would like to help plan one of the gatherings please contact the church office.
While staff are frequently in the building throughout the day, for the remainder of the spring and through the summer the Church Office open hours will remain Monday-Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We will reassess building open hours prior to September.
