I hope that you might be participating in our online Vacation Bible School, On the Sea of Galilee, with your children or grandchildren (one of the benefits of an online VBS model is that it makes it possible for you to encourage young people in your various circles to listen to the stories and engage in the activities together with you even if you aren’t able to be physically present with them).

Even if you don’t have young people that you can participate in VBS with, I hope you’ve watched the online videos.  They are well done and thought provoking.  Danielle reminds us that much of Jesus’ ministry and many of the gospel stories take place in and around water. (We will be spending time with a few of this water stories in our reflections in worship over the summer.)

I wonder why water might play such a prominent place in so many stories in the bible.  What words or images come to mind when you think about water?  Calm, stormy, refreshing, cooling, still, teeming-with-life, peaceful, turbulent, renewing, murky, fresh, choppy, moving, stagnant, quiet, frightening, chaotic, dangerous, foul, relaxing…

Pick a word or two from the list above – or one of your own that didn’t make it onto my list – and then read or watch one of the water stories from the gospels and see what you God might show you today.
