A Blessing of the Animals service is often associated with St. Francis of Assisi, the patron Saint of animals and natural environment and is celebrated on a day close to October 4th (the Feast Day of St. Francis). St. Francis believed that nature itself was the mirror of God. He called all creatures his “brothers” and “sisters”, and even preached to the birds.

This year our Aldersgate Blessing of the Animals service will be on October 2nd at 10:00 am at the church.  Bring your animal companions – cats, dogs, rodents, birds, fish or reptiles – to celebrate their importance to us and to join in blessing their presence in our lives.
